Html5 Does Not Kill Mobile Application

Submitted by: Yzwd Dwz

Apple confrontation FLASH process is also limited inside? Applied to expressly prohibited Flash on iPad and iPhone, Apple forced Web developers had to give up the use of Flash technology. Apple and Steve Jobs for Adobe’s final decision to abandon mobile Flash business “provides valuable suggestions. Of course, from the other hand, Apple makes HTML5 applications achieve better development. This is good news for Safari users, not bad on the the Android Web platform users. If there is an excellent general-purpose online application platform, then there is no doubt that developers will be the platform for this application, because in order to get the most users, it is not difficult to understand.

In addition, Adobe is now a foregone HTML5 believers, they are ready to publish high-quality HTML5 development tools to allow Flash developers to migrate to a new platform. The author would like to in the near future, you should be able to see the emergence of a Web-based mobile applications such as floods.

All this seems to be exactly in line with Apple’s intentions: Steve Jobs launched the movement to rid the world of Flash seems like almost succeeded, the user will be able to see better applications on Apple’s mobile devices, better web browsing experience.

I had conversation with the CEO of a network company, the HTML5 progress excited because he saw the different version of the future does not have to be the same should be developed for different platforms. Attract his is the cross-platform HTML5 HTML5 popular, then they need to develop an HTML5 version of the application will be sufficient.

But I do not know how to understand it is considered good news for the lucrative Apple App Store. Apple application store will earn the less because The HTML5 development the better, the traditional application developers will be less and will be less, due to the unique cross-platform applications, iPhone and iPad. In other words, Apple is pushing the world towards HTML5, as well as being cut off of a cash cow.

HTML5 mobile applications that can kill it?

The opposite point of view from the CEO of another company, this company in Web services, mobile applications and traditional computer software field to accomplish something. He believes that mobile applications will continue to generate down, and ultimately determine the direction of the development of the mobile space is not a developer, not a consumer, but control of the mobile operating system: Apple, Google and Microsoft.

Mobile application developers face the biggest challenges makes the application capable of lasting concern for those Web Apps, currently there is no effective way, even with the recommendations and evaluation of the well-known site, its impact is still a little vertical disappearing. To get your applications continue to appear in the eyes of potential customers, it is best to put it on an application inside the store.

Currently or in the foreseeable future, in order to build a Web application is compatible with all hardware platforms, it seems that is not easy. This is not because HTML5 is not advanced enough, but because of mobile hardware and operating system manufacturers always try to keep their products ahead of the characteristics of the “lowest common denominator” for all similar products, this is their strategy of selling their products. (Note: the “lowest common denominator” feature can be understood as follows: all those who support the function.)

So, if you create a mobile application, you have to follow this trend, in order to profit.

Now the entire mobile space widely publicized HTML5 compatibility, it might be a trap. To be successful, developers need to separate each platform area to be treated. In the non-HTML5 era, might you build applications only applies to the latest and greatest hardware platform, yes, the average user to use the opportunity probability smaller, but each one purchased new equipment will be biased in favor of using it. Your application more play to the advantage of the new hardware platform, hardware and system providers will be more inclined to help you spread the application, which will bring you some unexpected results. Once your application has been successful on a new hardware platform, then you can begin to encroach the actions of other hardware platforms.

For those trying to conquer all platforms at once the developers, usually can not find marketing partners, or not lose in an all times, be difficult for someone to win. HTML5 does not kill the mobile application.

Eleven killed in train crash in northern Victoria, Australia

Tuesday, June 5, 2007File:Swan Hill3.jpg

Eleven people have been killed, and more than 20 injured, when a V/Line passenger train and a semi trailer collided at a level crossing on the Murray Valley Highway in northern Victoria, Australia. At least 13 more are still missing and are believed to be trapped in the wreckage.

The collision, which occurred at 1:40 p.m. local time, was approximately 10 km north of the town of Kerang, on the Swan Hill railway line.

The train involved in the accident was a service from Swan Hill, which departed at 1:00 p.m. from Swan Hill railway station, and was destined for Melbourne. The train was comprised of a locomotive and three carriages.

Witness reports say that the semi-trailer collided into the second of the three carriages, and then detached the third carriage from the remainder of the train and causing it to derail. The whole side of the second carriage was ripped open from the direct impact of the semi-trailer.

The injured have been transferred from the scene to hospitals in the area, including Kerang and Mildura, by ambulance. Helicopters and light aircraft have been used to transfer patients to Melbourne, as local hospitals struggle with the sudden influx of patients. The driver of the semi-trailer has been moved to the hospital in Mildura in “critical condition”, according to police at the scene.

The train had 39 people on board the 1:00 p.m. service, according to train documents. This included three staff employed by the train operator V/Line, who have all been accounted for and are not injured. Of the 36 passengers on the train, it has been reported that 23 have suffered injuries.

Reports say six people were airlifted to Melbourne for treatment, however one has since died. The remaining 17 have been moved to regional hospitals, including the temporary relief centre in Kerang, according to a Rural Ambulance Service spokesperson.

Although there are still 13 people unaccounted for, police say it is possible that some had bought tickets and were therefore listed on the train manifest, but did not end up catching the service.

Premier of Victoria Steve Bracks is expected to fly to the crash scene this evening. He has ordered a full investigation into the incident. Federal Minister for Transport Mark Vaile has offered Federal government assistance from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau to help with the investigation. The Prime Minister John Howard has offered the Victorian government any additional aid that is requires in the aftermath of this incident.

Train operator V/Line have set up an emergency hotline to assist relatives and friends of those on the train receive information. The number is 1800 800 120.

Stanford physicists print smallest-ever letters ‘SU’ at subatomic level of 1.5 nanometres tall

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

A new historic physics record has been set by scientists for exceedingly small writing, opening a new door to computing‘s future. Stanford University physicists have claimed to have written the letters “SU” at sub-atomic size.

Graduate students Christopher Moon, Laila Mattos, Brian Foster and Gabriel Zeltzer, under the direction of assistant professor of physics Hari Manoharan, have produced the world’s smallest lettering, which is approximately 1.5 nanometres tall, using a molecular projector, called Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) to push individual carbon monoxide molecules on a copper or silver sheet surface, based on interference of electron energy states.

A nanometre (Greek: ?????, nanos, dwarf; ?????, metr?, count) is a unit of length in the metric system, equal to one billionth of a metre (i.e., 10-9 m or one millionth of a millimetre), and also equals ten Ångström, an internationally recognized non-SI unit of length. It is often associated with the field of nanotechnology.

“We miniaturised their size so drastically that we ended up with the smallest writing in history,” said Manoharan. “S” and “U,” the two letters in honor of their employer have been reduced so tiny in nanoimprint that if used to print out 32 volumes of an Encyclopedia, 2,000 times, the contents would easily fit on a pinhead.

In the world of downsizing, nanoscribes Manoharan and Moon have proven that information, if reduced in size smaller than an atom, can be stored in more compact form than previously thought. In computing jargon, small sizing results to greater speed and better computer data storage.

“Writing really small has a long history. We wondered: What are the limits? How far can you go? Because materials are made of atoms, it was always believed that if you continue scaling down, you’d end up at that fundamental limit. You’d hit a wall,” said Manoharan.

In writing the letters, the Stanford team utilized an electron‘s unique feature of “pinball table for electrons” — its ability to bounce between different quantum states. In the vibration-proof basement lab of Stanford’s Varian Physics Building, the physicists used a Scanning tunneling microscope in encoding the “S” and “U” within the patterns formed by the electron’s activity, called wave function, arranging carbon monoxide molecules in a very specific pattern on a copper or silver sheet surface.

“Imagine [the copper as] a very shallow pool of water into which we put some rocks [the carbon monoxide molecules]. The water waves scatter and interfere off the rocks, making well defined standing wave patterns,” Manoharan noted. If the “rocks” are placed just right, then the shapes of the waves will form any letters in the alphabet, the researchers said. They used the quantum properties of electrons, rather than photons, as their source of illumination.

According to the study, the atoms were ordered in a circular fashion, with a hole in the middle. A flow of electrons was thereafter fired at the copper support, which resulted into a ripple effect in between the existing atoms. These were pushed aside, and a holographic projection of the letters “SU” became visible in the space between them. “What we did is show that the atom is not the limit — that you can go below that,” Manoharan said.

“It’s difficult to properly express the size of their stacked S and U, but the equivalent would be 0.3 nanometres. This is sufficiently small that you could copy out the Encyclopaedia Britannica on the head of a pin not just once, but thousands of times over,” Manoharan and his nanohologram collaborator Christopher Moon explained.

The team has also shown the salient features of the holographic principle, a property of quantum gravity theories which resolves the black hole information paradox within string theory. They stacked “S” and the “U” – two layers, or pages, of information — within the hologram.

The team stressed their discovery was concentrating electrons in space, in essence, a wire, hoping such a structure could be used to wire together a super-fast quantum computer in the future. In essence, “these electron patterns can act as holograms, that pack information into subatomic spaces, which could one day lead to unlimited information storage,” the study states.

The “Conclusion” of the Stanford article goes as follows:

According to theory, a quantum state can encode any amount of information (at zero temperature), requiring only sufficiently high bandwidth and time in which to read it out. In practice, only recently has progress been made towards encoding several bits into the shapes of bosonic single-photon wave functions, which has applications in quantum key distribution. We have experimentally demonstrated that 35 bits can be permanently encoded into a time-independent fermionic state, and that two such states can be simultaneously prepared in the same area of space. We have simulated hundreds of stacked pairs of random 7 times 5-pixel arrays as well as various ideas for pathological bit patterns, and in every case the information was theoretically encodable. In all experimental attempts, extending down to the subatomic regime, the encoding was successful and the data were retrieved at 100% fidelity. We believe the limitations on bit size are approxlambda/4, but surprisingly the information density can be significantly boosted by using higher-energy electrons and stacking multiple pages holographically. Determining the full theoretical and practical limits of this technique—the trade-offs between information content (the number of pages and bits per page), contrast (the number of measurements required per bit to overcome noise), and the number of atoms in the hologram—will involve further work.Quantum holographic encoding in a two-dimensional electron gas, Christopher R. Moon, Laila S. Mattos, Brian K. Foster, Gabriel Zeltzer & Hari C. Manoharan

The team is not the first to design or print small letters, as attempts have been made since as early as 1960. In December 1959, Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman, who delivered his now-legendary lecture entitled “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom,” promised new opportunities for those who “thought small.”

Feynman was an American physicist known for the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics and the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, as well as work in particle physics (he proposed the parton model).

Feynman offered two challenges at the annual meeting of the American Physical Society, held that year in Caltech, offering a $1000 prize to the first person to solve each of them. Both challenges involved nanotechnology, and the first prize was won by William McLellan, who solved the first. The first problem required someone to build a working electric motor that would fit inside a cube 1/64 inches on each side. McLellan achieved this feat by November 1960 with his 250-microgram 2000-rpm motor consisting of 13 separate parts.

In 1985, the prize for the second challenge was claimed by Stanford Tom Newman, who, working with electrical engineering professor Fabian Pease, used electron lithography. He wrote or engraved the first page of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, at the required scale, on the head of a pin, with a beam of electrons. The main problem he had before he could claim the prize was finding the text after he had written it; the head of the pin was a huge empty space compared with the text inscribed on it. Such small print could only be read with an electron microscope.

In 1989, however, Stanford lost its record, when Donald Eigler and Erhard Schweizer, scientists at IBM’s Almaden Research Center in San Jose were the first to position or manipulate 35 individual atoms of xenon one at a time to form the letters I, B and M using a STM. The atoms were pushed on the surface of the nickel to create letters 5nm tall.

In 1991, Japanese researchers managed to chisel 1.5 nm-tall characters onto a molybdenum disulphide crystal, using the same STM method. Hitachi, at that time, set the record for the smallest microscopic calligraphy ever designed. The Stanford effort failed to surpass the feat, but it, however, introduced a novel technique. Having equaled Hitachi’s record, the Stanford team went a step further. They used a holographic variation on the IBM technique, for instead of fixing the letters onto a support, the new method created them holographically.

In the scientific breakthrough, the Stanford team has now claimed they have written the smallest letters ever – assembled from subatomic-sized bits as small as 0.3 nanometers, or roughly one third of a billionth of a meter. The new super-mini letters created are 40 times smaller than the original effort and more than four times smaller than the IBM initials, states the paper Quantum holographic encoding in a two-dimensional electron gas, published online in the journal Nature Nanotechnology. The new sub-atomic size letters are around a third of the size of the atomic ones created by Eigler and Schweizer at IBM.

A subatomic particle is an elementary or composite particle smaller than an atom. Particle physics and nuclear physics are concerned with the study of these particles, their interactions, and non-atomic matter. Subatomic particles include the atomic constituents electrons, protons, and neutrons. Protons and neutrons are composite particles, consisting of quarks.

“Everyone can look around and see the growing amount of information we deal with on a daily basis. All that knowledge is out there. For society to move forward, we need a better way to process it, and store it more densely,” Manoharan said. “Although these projections are stable — they’ll last as long as none of the carbon dioxide molecules move — this technique is unlikely to revolutionize storage, as it’s currently a bit too challenging to determine and create the appropriate pattern of molecules to create a desired hologram,” the authors cautioned. Nevertheless, they suggest that “the practical limits of both the technique and the data density it enables merit further research.”

In 2000, it was Hari Manoharan, Christopher Lutz and Donald Eigler who first experimentally observed quantum mirage at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California. In physics, a quantum mirage is a peculiar result in quantum chaos. Their study in a paper published in Nature, states they demonstrated that the Kondo resonance signature of a magnetic adatom located at one focus of an elliptically shaped quantum corral could be projected to, and made large at the other focus of the corral.

Famous Animal Actors

Famous Animal Actors

by

Bill W

While they will not be on the cover of People Magazine, animal actors have been gracing the silver screen since silent movies. They might not be able to convey the spoken word (besides the terrible attempts like Beverly Hills Chihuahua) but they can still convey immense amounts of emotions. What guy can honestly say he did not cry at the end of Old Yeller or Where the Red Fern Grows? Animal actors have been capturing our hearts and imaginations for years, and these are some of the most prominent.

Lassie

Arguably the most well known animal character of the television era, Lassie has been saving boys from wells since the 1940s. While Lassie is a female character, every dog playing the role has been male. This is due to the fact that male collies look better on television due to their thicker coat. Pal was the first Lassie, and appeared in the first movies, television shows, and toured the country as the role. Since Pals time, every portrayal of Lassie has been a descendent of Pal until recent years.

Babe

The talking pig who dreamed of being a sheep dog was an instant hit the world over. The movie grossed over 250 million dollars worldwide after being filmed and released in Australia. The soft spoken, shy, and endearing pig and his can do attitude won the hearts of critics and audience members alike, and the film has been ranked in the top 100 inspirational movies. Babe is voiced by Christine Cavanaugh who also provided voices for the popular cartoon Rugrats, The Powerpuff Girls, and The Wild Thornberrys to name a few. Other than the famous pig, Babe s leading actor is James Cromwell who plays Farmer Arthur, Babes owner and savior.

Mr. Ed

One of the most iconic of the talking animals, Mr. Ed ran for 145 episodes that featured the mischievous horse. Before legally changing the name, the gelding was named Bamboo Forester and he lived to be around thirty years old (there are discrepancies about the actual death of Bamboo Forester). It was common knowledge for many years that the director used peanut butter to get Mr. Ed to talk, but it has since been revealed that a wire was used, but Mr. Ed actually became trained to move his lips when his co-star, Alan Young, stopped talking. After Mr. Ed, Alan Young had some movie appearances in The Time Machine but he primarily focused on voices for cartoons.

Besides the big stars like, Lassie, Babe, Mr. Ed, Flipper, Air Bud (only slightly kidding), Toto, Benji, and a host of others stars who have their own shows or films

based around them, many animal actors go largely unnoticed. The biggest medium for them seems to be commercials for pet food or medication, and while these are basic there is still a lot of training and time involved with the animals. More exotic creatures are featured in action films, comedies, and dramas where they often play the bad guy or some such role.

Doctor diagnoses Mexican artist Frida Kahlo’s infertility

Monday, April 23, 2012

File:Frida Kahlo by Artist René Romero Schuler.jpg

According to a new diagnosis by a surgical pathologist, Frida Kahlo most likely suffered uterine damage during a streetcar accident as a teenager and this led to a rare condition known as Asherman’s syndrome, and that would explain the Mexican artist’s infertility.

Dr. Fernando Antelo, from the Harbor–UCLA Medical Center, said, “Her survival defied the grim prognostication by her physicians; however, complications from this physical trauma would emerge in her adulthood.” He presented his diagnosis yesterday at the annual meeting of the American Association of Anatomists in San Diego.

Asherman’s syndrome is normally caused by a trauma to the uterus that results in internal scar tissue. For example, it can occur after multiple procedures to clear the uterus after a miscarriage or abortion, which is known as a “D & C” procedure. Antelo said Kahlo tried to have children many times and her miscarriages, as well as three therapeutic abortions, could have further aggravated the scarring.

At present the condition could be diagnosed and treated after advancements in medical imaging and hysteroscopy, but in Kahlo’s time, Dr. Antelo said, the technology had not advanced far enough to diagnose and treat her. Asherman’s syndrome has been known since 1894 when it was first reported. Kahlo died at age 47 in 1954.

“She kept attempting to have children with a uterus that wasn’t in any condition to do that,” Antelo said.

Antelo, who has been working on connections between art and medicine, says that Kahlo brought her infertility to the canvas and this can be seen in her many paintings of reproductive organs or in her depiction of her own bleeding body in the 1932 painting Henry Ford Hospital. In that image, Kahlo is shown lying on a hospital bed with multiple umbilical cords extending from her body and each one holds an object or body part, except one holding a baby.

New South Wales government starts trial of hunting in national parks

Monday, February 17, 2014

On Friday afternoon, amateur shooters were briefed about a three-year-long trial of hunting in national parks of New South Wales, Australia. The meeting was held in Griffith near Cocopara Nature Reserve, where the first shooting operation of the trial was to occur on Saturday, targeting the feral goats.

The National Parks Wildlife Service (NPWS) has used aerial culls and baiting to reduce Cocoparra’s goat population, but there are said to be thousands of goats at the reserve. The feral animals to be hunted in other reserves may include cats, deer, dogs, and pigs, beside goats — depending on the reserve.

Shooters in the supplementary pest control trial were to be closely supervised by rangers, as the trial was monitored and its effectiveness evaluated. In a partnership of NPWS and the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc, qualified volunteers were recruited, under the Sporting Shooters Association’s hunting program. According to Mick O’Flynn, the Acting Director Park Conservation and Heritage with the NPWS, the four shooters selected for the first shooting operation received comprehensive safety and training instruction.

Following announcement of the close partnership of shooters with NWPS staff, the Greens cancelled planned picketing of the first shooting operation. However, State Greens MP (Member of Parliament) David Shoebridge warned, “This needs to be a government-run program, not run by the biggest gun lobby group in Australia”. He called limiting the meeting to members of the Sporting Shooters Association “outrageous”. Another concern raised by the Greens was the danger of armed people, not only to animals, but also to people visiting the national parks, should the shooters be unsupervised after the trial.

The trial was announced in the second half of 2013, though the plan has been significantly modified over time and has come to be regulated under the National Parks and Wildlife Act, in contrast with the original proposal of recreational hunting in national parks, as it was announced in May 2012 by New South Wales Premier Barry O’Farrell. This amendment of the Game and Feral Animal Control Act was part of a deal with the Shooters and Fishers Party. The government needed at least one vote from a Shooters and Fishers Party MP to pass electricity privatisation legislation, as both Labor and Greens opposed it. O’Farrell’s plans to allow pest control by licensed individuals called for licencing by the Game Council of New South Wales.

Following a report sharply criticizing the Game Council, the government dissolved it in mid-2013, suspended hunting on public lands, and reconsidered the plan to allow amateur hunters into national parks — thus breaking the earlier promise to the Shooters and Fishers Party.

The Social Security and also Supplemental Safety Income handicap programs would be the largest of several Federal programs that supply assistance to those with disabilities. While these two programs will vary in several ways, both are usually administered because of the Social Stability Administration in support of individuals that have a handicap and meet medical standards may be entitled to benefits below either system.

The Cultural Security office should check your medical history to make certain you be entitled to disability advantages. The Social Security workplace is one way to get impairment benefits, but generally these benefits won\’t be substantial enough for people.

Disability insurance can be acquired through numerous insurance companies. In the big event that you\’ll be disabled, that insurance may serve seeing that financial safety. You will receive a percentage of your respective gross income from the disability insurance policies, income that can ensure your financial security.

You don\’t have to go throughout the Social Safety measures Office to carry a disability insurance policies, nor to receive the benefits from that plan. The Sociable Security impairment program just isn\’t related to help any disability insurance policy that you get.

Individual handicap insurance is really a basic concept. It truly is an insurance coverage product designed to replace between 45-60% of this gross income on the tax-free foundation should some sort of sickness or even illness prevent you from earning an income in the occupation. Every disability insurance plan from every insurance carrier is distinctive, this seriously isn\’t a merchandise to simply go shopping for the most competitive rate. To pick the cheapest disability insurance plan available on the market is for you to throw income away. The chances of acquiring paid any monthly help under a low priced contract can be significantly lower than receiving advantages from a good quality contract.

Many people are aware of two types of disability insurance: short-term disability, and long-term incapacity. Short-term handicap insurance is roofed in a gains package with a variety of employers, and usually provides an income inside early a part of disability. Short-term impairment insurance usually provides coverage for the period of a few months, and does not exceed any two-year phrase.

Longer-term incapability, however, can last for any period of a long period. These kinds of policies can be included began this morning employment, within a benefits deal, but numerous purchase most of these disability insurance policies individually.

Where disability insurance coverage goes, however, there are nevertheless more policies to find out about. One form of disability insurance is the Own-Occupation Incapacity Insurance. Madness of this kind of policy says:

The inability to execute the stuff and substantial duties of your regular career, the insurance firm will consider your occupation for being the occupation you might be engaged in at that time you turn out to be disabled, they will probably pay the claim despite the fact that are in some various other capacity.

A different type of disability insurance will be the Income Replacing Insurance. This is a very popular sort of disability insurance coverage, and most insurance agents have an understanding of this insurance policy. The vocabulary of this sort of disability insurance policies reads:

Because of sickness or maybe injury you can\’t perform the material and also substantial duties of this occupation, and are not engaged in a other work. \”

Widespread in worker benefits plans, Gainful Occupation Coverage is another popular way of disability insurance plan. The language here is worded meticulously:

Because of sickness as well as injury you can\’t perform your material in addition to substantial obligations or ones occupation, or any occupation that you are deemed reasonably qualified by knowledge, training, or experience.
