Flying High With Aviation Kpi

It is crucial for aviation companies to select and use relevant aviation KPI to assess the value of their outputs. KPI or key performance indicators, after all, can be used to determine their organizational success or failure. The term aviation traditionally refers to all activities with involvement of man-made flying devices, like aircrafts. The same term can also be used to refer to all people, regulatory bodies, and organizations that have something to do with these devices. Aviation operations are categorized into two: civil aviation and military aviation. Civil aviation will include all non-military flying which are categorized into general aviation and scheduled air transport. The scope of general aviation will include non-scheduled civil flying: commercial or private. This will include all business flights, private aviation, air charter, flight training, parachuting, hang gliding, and aerial photography. Military aviation, on the other hand, involves the use of all military aircrafts that are often part of a governments military arsenal.Undoubtedly, the aviation industry is a significant part in the lives of the millions of people who have the need to move from one place to another. Today, the industry is faced with the challenge of diminishing its carbon dioxide emissions worldwide. Presently, about 2% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in the globe can be attributed to aviation operations according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was set up by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations. This fact is even made more urgent by the discovery of scientists and environmental advocates that greenhouse gases released at high altitude will trap more heat than if these gases were released on the ground. This development has spurred the aviation industry to improve their fuel efficiency by looking into alternative sources of fuel.Coupled with the challenge of eliminating or diminishing the industrys carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases emission rate is the challenge of handling the increase or growth in global air travel. Despite the recent economic downturn suffered by many countries, the International Air Transport Association reports a growth in the number of air flights by 5% a year. It is expected that this growth in the aviation industry will continue until 2011.These issues were extensively discussed during the meeting of airlines and airports, aircraft and engine manufacturers, as well as fuel suppliers in a meeting in Geneva last April 2008. In the same gathering, industry players identified four areas of improvement. Among which are economic instruments, technology, operations, and infrastructure. However, the most urgent concern that they identified is the finding of an ideal kerosene jet fuel replacement since such fuel is primarily derived from crude oil, making it less environment-friendly. Despite being a highly competitive industry, many airlines are willing to share research and technology to find a potent solution to this problem.Amidst all the many factors that continue to hound the aviation industry, aviation companies, particularly airlines, have resorted to investing in research and technology, as well as changing operating procedures for performance improvement. Through relevant aviation KPI, these companies are able to identify certain areas of operations that could still be greatly improved.

Top Reasons You Should Consider Hiring Maid Services In Brooklyn

byadmin

If you find that your house isn’t as clean as it used to be due to being constantly on the go, you might have considered hiring maid services in Brooklyn to help you with the cleaning. However, like most Americans, you feel that having someone else clean your home makes you lazy and have put it off. With that being said, read on below for a few of the reasons it’s okay to hire a house cleaning service to keep your home spotless for you.

If You Work Full-Time

Face it; it’s hard enough to keep a house spotless if you are home all of the time. If you work from 9 to 5, five or six days a week, it’s nearly impossible. Not only does using your limited time off to clean your house sap your energy, but it also limits the amount of time you get to spend with your family. If you hire a service to come in a few days a week even, you’ll find you have more energy for the things that matter in life like your husband and children.

Your Family Life is Busy

When you spend most of your time cleaning, cooking, and taking care of your kids, it’s hard to find the energy for date nights or trips to the amusement park. If you try to do all of it, then you are going to burn quickly out, and it can even affect your health in a negative way. Coming home to a clean house after a trip out with the family can put you in a good mood and give your health a boost as well.

These are just a couple of the reasons you should consider hiring eMaids to take care of your cleaning needs. Call them today; they are standing by to serve you!

China overtakes Germany as world’s biggest exporter

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Chinese officials have said that their country’s exports surged last December to edge out Germany as the world’s biggest exporter.

The official Xinhua news agency reported today that figures from the General Administration for Customs showed that exports jumped 17.7% in December from a year earlier. Over the whole of 2009 total Chinese exports reached US$1.2 trillion, above Germany’s forecast $1.17 trillion.

Huang Guohua, a statistics official with the customs administration, said the December exports rebound was an important turning point for China’s export sector. He commented that the jump was an indication that exporters have emerged from their downslide.

“We can say that China’s export enterprises have completely emerged from their all-time low in exports,” he said.

However, although China overtook Germany in exports, China’s total foreign trade — both exports and imports — fell 13.9% last year.

Wikinews interviews three figures from Donald Trump’s political past

Sunday, March 13, 2016

Wikinews spoke with three people associated with the early political career of U.S. businessman Donald Trump, the front-runner for the Republican Party’s 2016 presidential nomination. Those interviewed include longtime political operative Roger Stone, a close associate of Trump and director of Trump’s 2000 presidential exploratory committee; journalist Dave Shiflett, co-writer of Trump’s 2000 campaign book The America We Deserve; and political consultant Russ Verney, who served as chairman of the Reform Party of the United States of America which Trump briefly joined.

In Trump’s highly publicized 2016 campaign, he has run under the banner of Make America Great Again, advocating a Mexican-funded wall along the U.S.–Mexico border, renegotiation of trade terms with other nations, and a temporary halt on the immigration of Muslims to the United States. He holds a considerable lead in Republican National Convention delegates over his opponents, winning 15 of the first 24 primary and caucus contests. Though this is Trump’s most visible campaign, it is not his first foray into electoral politics. He flirted with Republican presidential runs: first in 1987, when he purchased newspaper advertisements on foreign policy and delivered a campaign-like speech in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire; and then in 2011, when he briefly led nationwide opinion polls for the presidential nomination after questioning the citizenship of President Barack Obama. Trump’s most extensive campaign before now came during the 2000 presidential election when he opened an exploratory committee to consider seeking the presidential nomination of the Reform Party.

For 2000, Trump conducted various speeches and media appearances in support of his potential presidential campaign. He placed Stone in charge of his exploratory committee and hired Shiflett to work on what would become The America We Deserve. His chief opponent for the nomination was paleoconservative icon and eventual nominee Pat Buchanan who entered the race after ending his third unsuccessful campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. Based on Buchanan’s comments against American involvement in World War II, Trump attacked Buchanan as a “Hitler lover” and anti-Semite. Trump’s campaign received support from then-Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura, the highest ranking elected official in the Reform Party. This placed Trump at odds with the faction of industrialist Ross Perot, the party’s founder and two time presidential candidate. Verney, a Perot confidante, was chairman of the party during Trump’s exploration. Though initially dismissive of the campaign, Verney eventually welcomed Trump into the race. However, the deep divisions within the party precipitated the exit of Ventura, and Trump did not seek the nomination. Despite leaving the race, Trump still appeared on Reform Party presidential primary ballots in California and Michigan, winning both states.

Over a five month period, Wikinews reporter William S. Saturn contacted the three previously involved in Trump’s politics to get their thoughts on his current presidential campaign, learn more about Trump’s political past including the true nature of his 2000 effort, and obtain details on his personality.

BBC spends £3.4m on sell-off

Friday, June 27, 2008

Newspaper The Guardian reports today that the sale of the BBC subsidiary BBC Resources Ltd., has cost £3.4m in consultancy fees — over £1m more than the £2.3m trading profit the commercial division is estimated to have made for the last financial year. Details of the failed privatisation were released by the BBC following a freedom of information request, and prior to publication of its annual report on July 8.

Fourteen months after advisers were appointed to try to sell BBC Resources Ltd., only one of the three main business units has been sold — its Outside Broadcast division to Satellite Information Services Limited (SIS), for an estimated £20m. On March 7, 2008 it was also announced that the studios operation would remain in BBC ownership and in early June, the fate of the third business was put on hold with the BBC stating that “like Studios, Post Production will remain within BBC Resources, which will continue to operate as a wholly-owned commercial subsidiary of the BBC.”

BBC Resources Ltd. made an operating profit of £6.1m for 2005-06, down from £7.4m the year before, with the BBC accounting for 83.3% of its turnover, down from 87.4% for 2004-05. Last year’s published figure for 2006-07 was £5.2 million — with BBC business at 80% of turnover.

BECTU Assistant General Secretary Luke Crawley is quoted as saying: “It’s fairly outrageous that around half the profit of the company [announced last year] has been spent trying to sell it. It’s an inordinate amount of money. The BBC was promised big returns if it sold BBC Resources but it’s only managed to sell outside broadcasts and we do not know how much it made out of that. We think the £3.4m is a poor investment.”
